Cara Delevingne is Harley Quinn in DC’s Suicide Squad Movie?

Reports have suggested that DC Comics’ upcoming Suicide Squad movie has been headhunting some pretty big fish, with actors like Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie previously rumored for roles (not to mention the possible involvement of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor), but now the new scuttlebutt is saying that a key, fan-favorite part may wind up going to English actress/model Cara Delevingne.
This report comes to us from Latino-Review, which has learned from sources that Warner Bros. is interested in the actress for “the villainous female role” in Suicide Squad. While they received no kind of confirmation, the character the site speculates Delevingne could be playing is Harley Quinn – The Joker’s utterly psychotic significant other who is part of the comic book team in DC Comics’ New 52 continuity. The site notes that earlier drafts of the screenplay for the film didn’t include Harley Quinn, but that may be changing due to the fact that it looks like director David Ayer is going to have a crack at the script.
Delevingne made her big screen debut in 2012 wen she played Princess Sorokina in director Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina adaptation, and she recently reunited with the director for his movie Pan, which is currently in post-production and will be heading to theaters next year.
